Become a Trainer
Every organization requires experts to train new joiners and refresh knowledge of their existing employees on a regular basis. This is an important activity which is and must be carried out diligently. The results of employee training may not be directly seen but can be sensed by external people when they interact with employees of the organization.
To conduct this activity, there is always a need of trainers who can share their knowledge in a structured way, to derive expected results from the trainees.
Becoming a trainer is not difficult but definitely requires a different approach. This approach requires focus shift from client deadlines to client outcomes.
The vision of growth is long term and outcome oriented.
To begin taking sessions in your organization, you must finalize the topic and its boundaries – the starting point and ending point.
Boundaries will define the first sub-topic and the last sub-topic, considering the audience profile. This will also define the flow of the session. The duration of the session will help distribution of time for each sub-topic excluding introduction and summary of the session.
To develop content for sub-topics, look for examples in your organization or competitors where good practices and failures have affected Operations in any way. The conceptual fundamentals related to these examples and their impact on operations will create the desired impact through the session.
Garnish the session with some humor and a pinch of smile throughout the session. Give personalized attention to all attendees and their queries, and see the magic.
This is just the beginning….!!!

Recipe of a Good Training Session
1. Little “Importance of training for Attendees”
2. A pinch of Humor
3. A lot of “Knowledge Transfer”
4. A reasonable amount of “Participation of Attendees”
5. Equal quantities of:
· Activities
· Slideshow
· Discussion
· Test Understanding
6. For Garnish – Summary and Importance of training and its Outcomes
An interesting training session is a beautiful blend of many ingredients in the right proportion.
Introducing the program with key deliverables, which are an outcome of identified and agreed training needs, creates a knowledge-pull environment. Importance of Training for attendees creates the right flavor for a training if sautéed well. The ignited hunger for knowledge keeps the event alive and kicking all through.
Every training session should also have a pinch of subtle humour without an overdose of jokes or satire. Humorous examples and twists are helpful in reviving the energy level of the session. Humour not only refreshes the environment but also fuels active participation.
While a training must be fun, transfer of knowledge is a must.
The transfer of knowledge happens when participants are motivated to find solutions to their everyday situations. These situations can be an outcome of lack of process knowledge or adherence to them. These can also be lack of knowledge in general and their undesired consequences.
To motivate the participants, it is important to discuss the challenges and situations which surround the participants, and which the participants look for solutions of.
Once a discussion revolves around the situations in the field, participants tend to attend to and even add to it. Pull them in and support their participation, to derive and eventually suggest consensual solutions with key takeaways and action steps.
If a session builds the hope and vision of the participants to achieve the results they have aspired to, the participation will be focused, fruitful and indelible.
Every training should include an equal mix of Lecture, Videos and Activities to maintain a balance in the learning appetite of the attendees.
Garnish the program with challenges for which solutions were to be discussed, which the session was started with, and with solutions of the challenges.
A session with all these ingredients becomes unforgettable...
Leading with a Smile.. :)
Leading with a Smile…
A Leader is the pivotal point of the organizational culture. The way the Leader handles and manages its different aspects defines its outcome and longevity.
A leader who is seen smiling often creates an aura of approachability, which in turn gives way to freedom of ideas to flow. In such organizations, where leaders are seen smiling often, team tend to be closely knit and supportive towards their subordinates.
Smiles are infectious. Leaders who smile project inner strength and help their team members develop strength just by smiling often. We are attracted to such people and to the positive energy they emit with their smile. It breaks the barriers of language and creates a bond between people. It is, undoubtedly, one of the best and quickest ways to connect with anyone from any culture.
Smiling is not really an aspect of organizational culture, but it creates a background on which a beautiful organizational culture can be painted. Teams follow and replicate their leader.
Stress at work is increasing and will remain so. Results will be demanded and delivered without fail. But in this entire mission of demands, delays and deliverables, teams should not deteriorate in any way – in their morale, in their health, in their bonding as a team, in their personal life or in their spirit.
When a leader looks stressed, the atmosphere around them also becomes tensed. Everyone becomes defensive and fearful in expressing their thoughts openly.
Leaders can transform this easily.
They should smile more often – even during times of increased work pressure and pressing deadlines. Smiles communicate that team is happy. And who doesn’t want to work where people are smiling and happy? It all starts with the Leader’s smile.
Leader’s smiles are worth millions, which can come if they smile.
